About us.
We are a female-owned and operated boutique motel located in Del Norte, Colorado.
After being abandoned for nearly two decades, what was previously El Rancho Motel in the 1940s through the 1990s was brought back to life as the Mellow Moon Lodge by founding owner, Jessica Lovelace, with the name as an homage to her husband’s grandmother who owned a cafe by the same name in nearby Salida.
After purchasing the property in 2022 the current proprietor, Lauren Coleman, took the baton and continued to bring the property back to life. From finessing room designs and leveling up amenities to building out a retail shop and a bar and lounge onsite, Coleman and her ‘Moon Crew’ team have big plans for the future of the Mellow Moon Lodge and are proud to be a part of the small business community in our lovely little mountain town.
Lauren is a hands-on owner and operator who calls Del Norte home with her husband Stephen, their son Everett, and their pup Cooper. A hotelier by trade, Coleman is the CEO and Founder of The Sursy, an independent hospitality development group with a knack for creating go-to destinations that ooze personality, reflect and build up the local community, and form connection between people and the places we share.
